Enhanced Mode for Testim Mobile
11-20-2024
Testim Mobile introduces a new mode for recording and running tests (in addition to the Appium mode), called Enhanced mode.
What is Enhanced mode?
Enhanced mode delivers more stable, faster, and more versatile tests compared to Appium-based testing. With its zero-knowledge approach and unified API, the new Enhanced mode sees the structure of your mobile views better than any other tool in the market. Enhanced Mode makes it possible to create more reliable tests for hybrid applications (with embedded web views), applications created with the React Native and Flutter cross-platform frameworks, as well as native apps. These applications, which were previously difficult to test or unreliable using Appium, are now fully supported using Enhanced Mode.
Key benefits of Enhanced Mode
- Enhanced mode has a richer view hierarchy that sees the structure of your mobile views better than any tool in the market, even in React Native and Flutter apps.
- Better and faster performance with the ability to scan the entire view hierarchy in less than 500ms.
- No background information of the type of application is needed (unlike Appium). Simply begin recording your test.
- Supports React Native and Flutter cross-platform application frameworks and hybrid apps with embedded web views.
- Test stability for all mobile applications, reducing maintenance and decreasing test authoring time and effort.
You got me at “Enhanced”, what do I have to do?
When recording a test, simply select Enhanced Mode as part of your mobile test set up.
Enhanced Mode is only supported for tests authored on and executed with the Virtual Mobile Grid (VMG). Using the Virtual Mobile Grid combined with Enhanced Mode provides a seamless experience for creating tests for your native, hybrid, and cross-platform apps.
Testim Mobile also still provides Appium mode for the use of third-party grids or physical devices for native applications.
